From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Ira Sachs (b. November 21, 1965 in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American filmmaker. His first film was the acclaimed short Lady (1993). He directed Sundance Film Festival selection The Delta (1997) and directed Sundance Film Festival Grand Prize winning Forty Shades of Blue (2005). His latest film is Married Life, starring Chris Cooper and Pierce Brosnan. He was mentioned under the pseudonym Noah in a book by Bill Clegg, his ex-boyfriend, entitled "Portrait of an Addict as a Young Man." Sachs is Jewish and openly gay.
