Biography

Sami El-Salamouni studied at the Institute of Cinema and the Institute for Artistic Appreciation after completing his university studies at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Journalism .. He later tried several attempts at short documentary films, namely: City ... 1971 and Boredom ... 1972 and Cowboy ... 1973 and the morning ... 1982 and the train ... 1989 and the moment ... 1991. He also participated in preparing some television programs on cinema, such as: (Stars and Movies) and (Yesterday and Today's Cinema). Sami El Salamouny was keen in his film criticism to be honest and frank. He wrote articles on football. Sami El-Salamouny was a member of the Film Association, then Chairman of its Board of Directors from 1972 to 1977, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Cairo Film Club. He has written many articles and film studies in Al-Masaa newspaper, Al-Tali'ah magazines, Al-Kawakeb, Al-Hilal, Cinema, Theater and Cinema Club newsletter. He published three non-periodical books: (Camera 78), (Camera 79) and (Camera 80). He worked as a film critic for the radio and television magazine until his death. And he received many awards, including: 1972 Screenplay Award for (City). The first and second criticism awards, 1975, for the films (A Woman in Love) and (The bullet is still in my pocket). Personal Honor Award 1984 from the Egyptian Catholic Center for Cinema. Best Director Award 1985 for (The Morning). Medal of Honor 1986 from the Film Association. Society Film Award 1986 for (The Morning). The silver award for medium-length documentary films in 1988 for (Al-Sabah).
