Biography

Sofia Dimopoulou studied Theatre Studies at the Kapodistrian University and began her professional career in theatre. Since 2001, she has been professionally involved in casting, which she continues to this day through the company Ready2Cast, in collaboration with Fotis Xidianos. She is a member of the European Film Academy (EFA), the Hellenic Film Academy and the executive board of the ICDA – International Casting Directors Association. She has collaborated with many important Greek directors, such as Angelos Frantzis (Happiness, Murphy’s Law), Menelaos Karamangiolis (JACE), Elina Psykou (Sophia’s Son), Penny Panagiotopoulou (September, Wishbone), Sonia Lisa Kenderman (The Tailor) and Asimina Proedrou (Behind the Chimneys). She has also collaborated with foreign directors, most recently with the films The Return by Uberto Pasolini and Maria by Pablo Larraín. Her presence on television is also significant, with participation in series such as The Silent Road by Vardis Marinakis, Our Best Years by Olga Malea, Lies and Deserted Country by Giorgos Ghikapeppas, Save Me by Pieros Andrakakos, At 4 by Sergio Konstantinidis, The Bridge by Yannis Charitidis, Sauté by Konstantinos Antonopoulos and Maestro by Christoforos Papakaliatis.
