Being the prey of a underworld ring-leader, HU MAN-WAN is assigned the job of reporting on the explosion of an ocean-liner. So he leaves for the Philippines as a smuggler. However, he is discovered by the captain of the ship. In the end, he escapes by jumping into the sea. The explosion of the ocean-liner is in fact not an accident. The captain and the crew are bribed to explode it in order to fraud insurance money. LOK KAM quarrels with the captain over money matters. Fearing that LOK will betray him, the captain tries to murder LOK who luckily escapes seriously wounded. LOK is saved by HU and is sent to the hospital where the murderer also attempts to kill him. Once again, HU saves him from the hands of the murderer and he wants to further his investigation into the case. Yet, HU cannot find LOK anywhere and he guesses that LOK has escaped to Hong Kong. So he himself also leaves for Hong Kong……
Episode 2
02 May 1989 - Episode 2
LOK blackmails KEUNG NING again and again. Feeing angry, NING makes use of LOK's girlfriend KITTY to get rid of him. Before LOK dies, he tells the truth behind the explosion to HU. LOK is killed but his dead body is nowhere to be found. HU seeks help from TSE who is a police. After much investigation, not a trace is found. HU informs the director of the insurance company the fraud . The director, HO SAM decides to look into the matter. However, under the instruction of SIN CHI KUAN, NING again tricks HO into becoming their accomplice. HU joins NING's, company and his real identity is discovered by NING who decides to get rid of him.
Episode 3
03 May 1989 - Episode 3
HU falls into an ambush and his life is at risk. Fortunately, he escapes. TSE and YING asks him to stop investigating the matter but HU insists on going on. Again HU's life is at risk but this time he is saved by TSE. MAN bribes. CHAN KONG who admits all the charges and in the end the case is closed not to the satisfaction of HU, who knows that it is KUAN who is behind the whole plot. HUNG WAI LING takes up TSE's position but }e and LI FAN are not on friendly terms. FAN even feels delighted when he learns that HUNG is in danger when carrying out their duty. TSE and CANDY meets and the two grow fond of each other. By accident, CANDY finds a rotten corpse.
Episode 4
04 May 1989 - Episode 4
HUNG is put in charge of probing into such case. HU suspects it to be LOK's dead body. With this clue, HUNG digs into the case and eventually locates the murderer of the corpse which is found to be that of LOK. In the investigation, HUNG and FAN make up and cooperate to catch the murderer, who admits the charges but reveals that he is just working under the direction of NING. However, owing to insufficient evidence, KING is still at large. AU KWOON HO expands his business in Hong Kong and in a auction sale, he outbids KUAN who feels indignant. This sows seeds of hatred. HU is again attacked by some men sent by NING who is eager to do HU away.
Episode 5
05 May 1989 - Episode 5
When HU is being attacked, he is with HUNG who joins hands with him to fight the assailants. In order to track the assailants, he even: runs the risk of endangering his life. This arouses opposition from TSE and YING. They fall out over this. HU suspects HO to be involved in the plot behind his being attacked. He and FAN try to trap HO who in the end is arrested. However, because of insufficient evidence, HO is in the end released. AU's assistant, LEE LONG, makes use of NING's traitor to do away with NING as well as KUAN and his brother MAU. HU and HUNG gradually grow fond of each other. HUNG even introduces HU to her foster father LI CHUN KWOK who leaves a very good impression upon HU.
Episode 6
08 May 1989 - Episode 6
NING is wounded and in confusion, HUNG is also wounded when the police exchange fire with the murderer, who takes MAU as a hostage. In the end, he escapes and seeks refuge at LONG's place. Since LONG refuses to surrender the murderer to NING, enmity breeds between the two. The murderer blackmails NING and intends to do him away when he hands in the money In the end, RTING is shot dead while the murderer cannot escape the police and is also shot dead on the scene. Seeing that NING is dead, AU asks LONG to scramble for more power. Being aware of AU's ambition, SHIU SHUET FONG reminds KUAN to be more careful in dealing with AU. CHING comes to Hong Kong and be reunited with AU but all along she cannot forget HU and decides to track his whereabouts.

09 May 1989 - Episode 7
Hatred between LONG and MAN breeds as they scramble for power. Both of them try to trap each other. MAN suffers great loss and to avenge on LONG, he reports LONG 's illegal business. dealing to the police. In the end, LONG also suffers heavy loss. CHING eventually knows HU's whereabouts and goes to find him. HUNG is unhappy to see CHING and HU being so friendly and intimate. Her dissatisfaction grows as she learns that CHING proposes to accompany HU to England -since the news agency HU is working for asks him to report duty. HU gives up his job as a foreign correspondent and returns to Hong Kong. He discloses his findings concerning the explosion of the liner on the newspaper. This arouses attention of the police who decide}to look into the matter. Fearing that his involvement will be revealed, KUAN has Ho murdered making the whole act appear like HO suicide out of his sense of guilt.
Episode 8
10 May 1989 - Episode 8
HU thinks that the whole matter is now settled and ends his investigation into the case. He joins KWOK's news agency and works as a reporter. In order to win HU's love for her, CHING attempts to commit suicide. Instead of arousing HU's concern for her, HU is not touched. AU urges CHING to strive hard for achievement instead of feeling desperate. He encourages her to impress HU with her achievement in business. CANDY's father is sacked as he frequently makes mistakes. in his work. Out of impulse; he wounds the editor and threatens to hurt KWOK. Luckily, HU comes in time to stop him. In the end, CANDY 's father is sent to prison and this greatly saddens CANDY. HU asks ' TSE to offer help to CANDY in order to impress her who in fact remains untouched by TSE's kindness and sincerity. CANDY's brother, SEA, runs into heavy debts and is caught by loan-sharks.
Episode 9
11 May 1989 - Episode 9
In order to save her brother, CANDY works as a waitress in a nightclub. However, urged by WINNIE, she becomes a bargirl in order to get quick money. She even moves to live with WINNIE. TSE feels very sad as he hears nothing from CANDY and he thinks that CANDY is trying to avoid him. HU, by accident, meets CANDY at the nightclub and feels greatly surprised. TSE urges CANDY to switch to a decent job but she refuses and treats him coldly. Accidentally, TSE picks SEK up from the road and sends him to the hospital as SEK is wounded. Again TSE runs into CANDY and sincerely offers help and advice but CANDY remains Dig-headed. TSE does not give up and keeps urging CANDY to reform and start anew .life. In the end, CANDY is impressed by his love and sincerity. They prepare to get married. WINNIE runs into heavy debts and is disturbed by the loan-sharks. CANDY frightens the loan-sharks away by revealing her relationship with TSE……

12 May 1989 - Episode 10
TSE and CANDY inform her father about the news of their marriage and this delights him. HU feels very disturbed with CHING still being infatuated with him and he frankly refuses her love for him. KUAN feels in furious as he learns that CHING and MAU have become business partners. FONG pacifies him and asks him to remain calm. WINNIE wants to run away but is caught by LONG. CANDY suspects LONG to have caught WINNIE. LONG also kidnaps CANDY and intends to sell both of them overseas to work as prostitute. TSE discovers that and tries to save CANDY who is killed in chaos.
Episode 11
15 May 1989 - Episode 11
TSE laments over CANDY's death and is angry since the police do not have sufficient evidence to charge LONG. SEK tries to avenge on LONG but fails. On the contrary, he himself is killed by LONG. Again owing to sufficient evidence LONG is released. Besides, LONG accuses TSE of threatening him. TSE is forced to take a vacation. CANDY's father is released from prison and is sad to learn of the death of his children. He goes to avenge on LONG and again fails. He is in the end beaten and has to stay in the hospital. TSE feels disappointed and disillusioned since he feels that even law cannot maintain justice. He loses confidence in the work of enforcing law and justice and he decides to resign. AU invites KUAN to join him in his business but is refused by KUAU. LUK HUNG KAI now becomes AU's accountant and is of great help to AU.

16 May 1989 - Episode 12
HUNG and HU tries to persuade TSE to give up the idea of resigning from the police force. TSE listens to their advice and decides to stay. CANDY 's father still wants to avenge on LONG. He goes to see LONG after being discharged from hospital. LONG arranges him to be knocked down by his driver and TSE grieves deeply over the death of CANDY's father. With LUK's help, AU makes great profit and intends to purchase KUAN's corporate. POND urges KUAN to cooperate with AU but KUAN strongly refuses. KUAN kidnaps AU and forces him to give up his business in Hong Kong promising to leave within a month. AU feels infuriated and asks LONG to teach KUAN a lesson. Having made great profits from other business, AU gives up the idea of purchasing KUAN's corporate . This makes KUAN run into heavy debts and is on the verge of going bankrupt.
Episode 13
17 May 1989 - Episode 13
LUK is attracted to HUNG and starts dating her. But HUNG still has HU on her mind . KUAN blames MAU who ignores his proper duties. MAU feels unhappy being scolded and walks out of the house. In order to reestablish his business, KUAN lets FONG sell herself so as to get quick money. With the money he gets, he engages himself in drug-trafficking. AU informs the police of KUAN's transaction and all the drugs are confiscated. KUAN suffers heavy loss. To solve his financial difficulty, KUAN has to sell his ships. AU tricks him into selling his ships to him at a low price . Yet KUAN has no alternative but to let AU take advantage of him. To find out the truth, HU joins the corporation forgoing his job in the news agency. He becomes LONG's employee and works in the nightclub. Only TSE knows his intentions but HUNG does not. Being in the dark, HUNG falls out with HU over this.
Episode 14
18 May 1989 - Episode 14
KUAN is now on the verge of going bankrupt. This leaves him no alternative but to listen to FONG's advice and cooperate with AU. However, Au now refuses to be his collaborator and he even ridicules KUAN whose heart is filled with hatred. KUAN tries to kill AU hat in the end he himself is murdered. MAU feels both sad and furious. He wants to avenge for KUAN but is stopped by FONG who asks him to wait and devote his effort to establishing his business before he makes AU pay for his crime. MAU really turns his full attention to working and neglects. his girlfriend RUBY. This draws RUBY to LONG making MAU feel indignant. He sends his men to kill LONG but in the end he himself falls into the hands of LONG who gets him addicted to drug and then releases him. FONG's heart sinks when she learns of MAU's plight.
Episode 15
19 May 1989 - Episode 15
LONG has RUBY caught and shoots the scenes of them making love and he uses this to threaten RUBY and forces her to leave MAU. RUBY can do nothing but to surrender to LONG's will. HU discovers that LONG is working for AU and he makes use of his friendship with CHING so as to get close to AU. In the end HU wins the favor of AU and gets promoted to a high position. To win the confidence of her enemy AU, FONG arranges MAU's corporation to conglomerate with AU's. Through this, FONG can get a chance to be close to AU and waits for opportunities to revenge. AU is deceived and attracted by FONG's beauty and competence. Au evens starts courting FONG. MAU sends his men to set fire to LONG's nightclub but HU manages to stop them in time. This wins him LONG's trust and appreciation but arouses jealousy from other colleagues.
Episode 16
22 May 1989 - Episode 16
When HU goes out with CHING, they accidentally run into LUK and HUNG whose heart breaks on seeing them so intimate. In the end, she turns her full attention to her work and tries to forget HU. FONG successfully wins AU's love for her and waits patiently for a chance to avenge for KUAN. MAU misunderstands FONG thinking that she now taken side with AU. In his heart, he hates FONG much. MAU and LONG again run into conflicts. LONG discloses his relationship with RUBY in order to hurt MAU. MAU tries to do LONG away and in the end he himself is killed by LONG who also decides to sell RUBY overseas as prostitute. HU learns of LONG's decision and informs TSE to save RUBY. Yet after this, LONG knows that HU has betrayed him and wants to do him away.
Episode 17
23 May 1989 - Episode 17
CHING arrives just in time to save HU from being murdered by LONG. She tells AU about the conflict between LONG and HU. AU then transfers HU to his own corporation to avoid the two from falling out again. Though RUBY is saved from LONG's hands, she becomes insane. This greatly saddens TSE who is determined to make LONG pay for his evil deeds.AU has antagonized the ring-leaders of the underworld. KWOK, the boss of AU, also blames him and falls out with him. AU takes this opportunity to break up with KWOK who decides to do AU away. Both HUNG and HU make use of their relationship with LUK and CHING respectively to ferret evidence of AU 's crime in order to make him pay for his evil deeds., LUK gets hold of such evidence and falls out with AU. LUK intends to blackmail AU but eventually he himself falls in AU's hands.
Episode 18
24 May 1989 - Episode 18
FONG saves LUK and promises to set him free if he submits the evidence he has to her. In turn she surrenders it to AU in order to win his trust. LONG is sent to kill LUK but FONG informs the police in advance. LONG falls into TSE's ambush and is shot dead. TSE finally avenges on LONG for CANDY. HU gradually develops deep affections for CHING and the two decide to get engaged. This news breaks HUNG's heart. KWOK traps AU who runs into financial difficulty. KWOK even gets the help from FONG}who betrays AU and surrender all the evidence against him to the police. This drives AU to the end of his tether. He reveals to FONG that KWOK is behind the whole plot against KUAN. FONG feels infuriated and attempts to murder KWOK. Nevertheless, both AU and FONG are killed by KWOK. Yet KWOK makes the murder appear-like an accident.
Episode 19
25 May 1989 - Episode 19
HUNG feels doubtful of the death of FONG and AU. However, she cannot find enough evidence and the case is finally closed. KWOK wants to make HU replace AU's position. So he reveals his true identity to HU who is shocked to learn that he is in fact the boss of AU. Though on the surface, he agrees to cooperate with KWOK, he is in fact working for the police. HUNG really cannot believe that KWOK is the ring-leader of the underworld. Yet she decides not to bend law and justice for the benefit of KWOK but t. make him pay for his crime. With the help from the police, HU wins MVOK's complete trust. However, their collaboration arouses anger on CHING's part. For her safety sake, HU sends CHING to England. KWOK gradually grows suspicious of HU and HUNG and decides to test their loyalty to him.
Episode 20
26 May 1989 - Episode 20
HUNG is shrewd to see KWOK's plan. They are not trapped and KWOK Trusts them even more than before. HU and the police arranges have KWOK arrested when he has a meeting with another ring-leader. The whole gang is caught but KWOK takes HUNG as a hostage and escapes. KWOK sends his men to murder HU who manages to escape. KWOK then has YING caught and abuses her in front of HU. HU cannot stand such and has a fierce fight with KWOK. TSE arrives in time to have KWOK arrested. HU discloses the whole incident on the newspaper creating a furors.
