KO HEI MAN, who is a judge, and KWOK KWOK KWONG, a freelance computer programmer, have a 6-month-old baby boy, KWOK YIN CHO. MAN reprimands the chief prosecutor, LEUNG YAN YAN, for losing her documents. In a trial of a dog-bite case, MAN suspects that the dog owner, KWOK TAK WAN, is unable to exercise proper control on his dog. She arranges a test for his ability. WAN can do nothing but plead guilty. DIANA, MAN’s mother, and her new boyfriend, BRIAN, come to celebrate the CHO’s birthday, who is in fact only six-month old. MAN keeps asking about BRIAN’s background, for fear that DIANA will be cheated; Brian is scared off. KWONG, who grew up in Pin Tau Village, a walled village in the countryside, takes MAN and their son back to the village for a lantern lighting ceremony, a tradition signifying a son is born.… ...

KWONG did not know until he returns to the village that TUNG has bought a house so that the three generations can live under the same roof. KWONG flips through the pre-marriage agreement which he and MAN have reached. He is frustrated to confirm that MAN is unwilling to live with his parents. TUNG shows up at KWONG’s place suddenly to help him move house. Just then, KWONG comes across his old schoolmate, AK. A man who named CHAN CHI SHING sues his wife, MAN TIN NA, for stealing his expensive watch. AK, who is the defending lawyer of NA, argues that NA commits no offence of stealing since SHING is disloyal to her, and that as stated in their pre-marriage agreement, NA does not have to give half of her wealth to him if he is disloyal to her. MAN points out that it is difficult in fact to define what is disloyal. MAN finds KWONG behaving rather oddly.… ...

TUNG asks KWONG what is going on. AK lies in no time that the reason why MAN is so angry is that KWONG has a girlfriend outside. With the help of BOBO, KWONG’s younger sister, the matter is finally settled. KWONG returns home but is kicked out of the house by MAN. Meanwhile, CHO’s cry saves him from being driven out. HUNG takes over the case between SHING and NA. He points out that the pre-marriage agreement between SING and NA is unprofessional and therefore invalid. On the other hand, however, NA is acquitted on the charge of stealing. An old lady is charged of picking up things in a trash can. YAN sympathizes with the old lady. MAN gives her a telling-off, saying that she is too sentimental for a prosecutor. Feeling that she has been wrongly accused, YAN bursts into tears. The absent minded YAN nearly gets knocked down by KWONG’s car. MAN tells YAN how she became a judge so as to let her know why she is so strict with her.… ...

TUNG comes to know that MAN knows nothing about house chores and babysitting. He blames KWONG in anger for covering this up. TUNG suffers from Hyperglycemia, Gout as well as other health problems. He flies into a rage when MAN forbids him from eating unsuitable foods. MAN is exhausted from taking care of CHO on her own the whole night. HUNG is on leave. He sees MAN take CHO to the court and so offers to give her a hand by looking after the baby. Meanwhile, a girl comes up and talks to HUNG. KWONG calls DIANA, who is out of town, and asks her to come back soon to take care of CHO. DIANA advises MAN to treasure KWONG and to give him more freedom. KWONG and MAN have a candlelit dinner and the two are reconciled with each other. KWONG catches sight of his sister, BOWIE, who should now be in the US. But she has disappeared in a blink of an eye.… ...

KWONG asks BOWIE why she was expelled by the US Government. Refusing to gives him an explanation, BOWIE accuses him of invading her privacy. The next morning, KWONG hands BOWIE a piles of tertiary education information. BOWIE, nevertheless, insists that she will not study anymore. MAN introduces BOWIE to work for her friend VINCI, who runs a yoga gym, as an assistant. In order to please HUNG, BOWIE pays a sudden visit to HUNG at night and discloses to him the story behind her deportation. BOBO complains to BOWIE that TUNG does not want her to find a job. On hearing this, VINCI offers to hire her as an assistant as well; BOBO is overjoyed. TUNG and YING cause trouble at VINCI’s yoga gym. Not only do they give VINCI and BOWIE a good dressing-down but also force BOBO to leave. And when MAN gets home, she is blamed by TUNG too. BOWIE insists to stay at HUNG’s home. MAN asks HUNG to put BOWIE up as she sees that BOWIE trusts him.… ...

TUNG and KWONG return to the village. There they hear WAN and other villagers speak ill of them, and that children sing mountain songs (folk songs) to satirize KWONG. TUNG flies into a fit of rage. MAN learns from HUNG that her father, CHARLES, the person she hates most, is involved in a court case. She cannot help but recalling that how CHARLES went off for a clandestine love affair after giving her a bangle on her birthday and how the she broke off with him over a decade ago. In the court, CHARLES accuses his girlfriend, ADA, of stealing his bangle but she insists that it was a present from him. HUNG is shocked to see that the bangle is the same as the one that was given to MAN. MAN and CHARLES bump into each other in the court and she gives him a cold shoulder. CHARLES is really upset. KWONG believes that CHARLES’ disloyalty is the reason for MAN’s lack of confidence in marriage.… ...

22 August 2006 - Episode 7
CHARLES is charged of assaulting ADA. AK, her lawyer, thinks that the case is now on her side. KWONG suspects CHARLES to be a sleepwalker. MAN refuses to help CHARLES though. KWONG scolds MAN, who is always in the pursuit of justice, for being blindfolded by hatred. MAN testifies in court; ADA is acquitted on the stealing charge. When TUNG and YING learn of MAN and MAN’s relationship, they pay him a visit, bringing along with them some local produce. What is more, they also invite CHARLES to visit their village. AK and YAN tell KWONG that they are in love. The three then have a discussion on what is love. AK encourages KWONG to test MAN’s love for him and see if she will give up her good job in the name of love. CHARLES advises MAN to treasure KWONG and give him more freedom and respect. MAN comes to know that CHARLES is aware of her agreement with KWONG. She goes to question him why he had to tell CHARLES. KWONG talks back in anger.… ...

TUNG, WAN and others go to the opening ceremony of KWONG’s multi-media company. Knowing that MAN wants to learn to be a housewife, KWONG is surprised on one hand and is worried on the other. He tells her what should be paid attention to when keeping the house; MAN finds this a headache. To test MAN’s ability of being a housewife, TUNG tells YING and BOBO to leave the house and go back to the village. Before she goes on leave, MAN takes up a child abuse case of which a father is charged of beating his son who suffers from autism. MAN decides not to use the video conference facilities for the trial, which is a bold move as the victim of the case is only a child. She manages to find out the truth in the end. HUNG commends her good job and advises her not to quit her job. BOWIE takes out the bangle and asks HUNG if he and MAN were lovers. HUNG has no choice but to make three promises. KWONG teases at MAN for making a mess in the house.… ...

MAN blames herself for losing CHO. She goes looking for him with KWONG at the car park. Then out of the blue, they hear a baby cry. The tears are turned into smiles. YAN sees AK pulling and dragging a woman outside a bar. Later when he acts as the woman’s, whose name is EVA, defending lawyer in a drink driving case, she is burnt with jealously. In the court, YAN and AK have a heat argument. HUNG reprimands them for mixing up business with personal matters. YAN has managed to invite EVA’s boyfriend, CHING HUNG CHI, to be the prosecution witness. AK, however, suspects that the offender to be another person. YAN requests that CHI be declared hostile witness. YAN meets EVA in the washroom, where she comes to know that EVA grew up with AK in the same orphanage. YAN is surprised when EVA asks her to help her plead guilty. KWONG has made a deal with MAK. He does not know until later that CHARLES has given him a hand on closing the deal.… ...

Upon learning that VINCI has a crush on HUNG, BOWIE forces him to send her flowers to the yoga gym so as to make VINCI and MAN believe he is going out with her. KWONG later learns from HUNG that it is all a mistake. CHARLES encourages KWONG to go to Shanghai for a trade fair with him so as to extend his business network. BOWIE has offended her customer, MAY, who requests a withdrawal of membership. For fear that BOWIE will be fired, BOBO goes to MAY’s boyfriend, KIN, for help. Just then, MAY comes back and sues BOBO for soliciting customers. BOBO turns to MAN for help and he tells her to defend herself in court. BOBO is finally acquitted on the charge. MAN grasps the opportunity to patch up the frozen father-and-daughter relationship between BOWIE and TUNG. KWONG, who has just returned from a business trip, appreciates what MAN has done.… ...

MAN asks KWONG if he is hiding something from him. He replies in an evasive manner. Heartbroken, she plans to propose a separation. YAN tries to find out from AK the relationship between KWONG and DEBBIE. AK then realizes MAN has mistaken that KWONG has a secret lover. He tells KWONG not to correct the mistake. To please TUNG, MAN agrees to move into the village. KWONG is overjoyed. VINCI goes to the village. When she sees the angry WAN driving his dog, TAI KAU FAN, out of the house, she has a quarrel with him. The dog sneaks into her car later; she decides to keep it. WAN sues VINCI for stealing his dog. HUNG uses a trick to see who the dog prefers to stay with. The result shows that it prefers VINCI. VINCI is discharged from the offence. WAN is reluctant to see his dog go. CHO, for the first time, calls MAN Mum. MAN is both surprised and glad. MAN hands in her resignation to HUNG and tells him she wants to be a full time housewife.… ...

MAN returns to the village to take back CHO. What is more, she refuses to let KWONG enter the house. Brian proposes to DIANA. Both MAN and KWONG doubt his sincerity, nevertheless. BOWIE requests HUNG to reinstate MAN but he claims that it is just impossible. The two end up in a fight. The incident is witnessed by the paparazzi, who have taken photos of the two. VINCI goes to HUNG’s house, leaving no stones unturned in entering his place. Again, this is filmed by the paparazzi. Magazines report that HUNG is going out with both BOWIE and VINCI. HUNG goes to tell VINCI off in the gym. VINCI is complaining her grievance to her dog when WAN shows up. He gets back the dog with a trick. BOWIE confesses her love to HUNG. He turns her down. She retorts that he can still not get over MAN. KWONG, who has heard everything, worries that MAN and HUNG will get back to each other.… ...

CHARLES comes to MAN’s place. The father and daughter have a dispute over the love affair of DIANA and BRIAN and she shows both CHARLES and BRIAN the door. BRIAN is found injured and lying unconsciously in an elevator. CHARLES is charged for assault. His defending lawyer, AK, finds there is something wrong with BRIAN’s health. It is proved later that BRIAN suffers from confinement phobia. CHARLES is therefore found not guilty. HUNG goes to the village to fish and bumps into MAN. MAN can see a fruit tree has been grown from the seeds that she and HUNG planted together years ago, and that it is bearing fruits now. VINCI visits FAN at the village. She sees FUN, ex-girlfriend of WAN, scolding the dog. VINCI and WAN tell FUN off rather simultaneously. VINCI and WAN, who used to be foes, have become friends with each other. It is both windy and rainy when BOWIE is returning some fishing hooks to HUNG.… ...

31 August 2006 - Episode 14
FAN dies in a car accident. VINCI and WAN are very upset. They tell their story to each other and, under the effect of alcohol, they sleep together. BOWIE sews some strawberry seeds under the fruit tree. She tells HUNG why she loves strawberries so much, and that she is leaving Hong Kong. HUNG tells TUNG about BOWIE’s story about strawberries. TUNG rushes to the airport in no time. BOWIE tells HUNG that she will study hard for his sake. BOWIE is touched that TUNG has spent a thousand dollars on buying her a box of strawberry. VINCI has been absent-minded because WAN has not come to see her recently. On the other side, WAN seeks advice from KWONG and AK, who teaches him to win VINCI’s heart by a “to let go so as to catch” tactic. MAN and VINCI go for a pregnancy test. MAN is found positive while VINCI negative; VINCI is relieved. It comes as a thunder later that VINCI learns that the reports have been swapped.… ...

MAN is very upset that KWONG suspects that she is having an affair with HUNG. She demands a divorce. WAN is thrilled to learn that VINCI is pregnant. Learning that he has wrongly blamed MAN, KWONG kneels down and asks for her pardon. MAN, nevertheless, is not moved at all. YAN takes AK home to see her parents. Not until then does he know that YAN’s father is a governor in Malaysia. WAN brings along some bird’s nest to coax VINCI. She drives him out, believing that he only cares for the unborn baby. YAN’s parents have found out that the late parents of AK were robbers. This strikes AK as a heavy blow. TUNG learns from WAN that MAN is going to divorce KWONG. He forbids MAN from taking CHO away. CHO chokes when TUNG is feeding him and needs to be taken to hospital. Seeing that CHO is not being taken good care of, MAN is thinking of applying an injunction preventing TUNG and his family from getting near CHO. YAN advises her to think twice.… ...

YAN is given a good telling-off by her boss for leaving some documents, which are meant to be used in court, in MAN’s office. Her boss even implies that she should resign for her carelessness. YAN believes that it was MAN who informed her boss so as to revenge her. YAN airs her grievances to KWONG, who encourages her to do laws and become a lawyer. He also talks to her mother and she finally agrees to let YAN stay and work in Hong Kong. YAN appreciates what he has done and admires him even more. KWONG asks MAN to join the “The smartest baby competition” with him and CHO. MAN, however, is unhappy that he uses CHO as a tool to get her back. WAN mistakes that VINCI suffers from pre-natal depression. VINCI, instead of correcting the mistakes, takes this as a good opportunity to make WAN confess his love for her. She accepts his proposal. YAN, with her identity as CHO’s godmother, takes part in the competition with KWONG and CHO.… ...

MAN is suspended from duties. HUNG blames himself for getting her in an offence. KWONG tries to find a witness in the bookshop, but fails. HUNG begs YAN, the only eye-witness, to give a helping hand to MAN. Everybody is shocked that the evidence that YAN gives in court is unfavorable to MAN. YAN tells KWONG how to help MAN. AK advises KWONG to think twice though. When KWONG testifies, he says ill about MAN and tells the court that he was about to divorce MAN on the day the incident took place. MAN’s heart breaks. KWONG tries to speak out the truth to MAN, but he is stopped by YAN, who claims that MAN will apply for a judicial review if she learns the truth. AK takes YAN to see his new office. It comes as a big blow to him when she says that she is leaving him. KWONG comes to YAN’s house to patch up AK and YAN. The two spend the night drinking and telling each other their own stories.… ...

YAN is unhappy that KWONG cannot forget MAN. She eggs him into taking back his stuff from his and MAN’s place so as to cut off completely from her. SIMON, KWONG’s partner at work, demands to withdraw from the company. KWONG knows that it is CHARLES who is behind all these. In order to take MAN’s place, YAN asks her mother to be KWONG’s partner. She also persuades TUNG to fight for custody of CHO. KWONG feels uncomfortable with what she does. Seeing that MAN occupies herself in job to forget her troubles, HUNG asks her out to skate, to which MAN is grateful. YING and BOBO, who see this, decide to help KWONG and MAN getting back to each other. YING yells at TUNG angrily in pubic. What is more, she proposes a “divorce” and moves to MAN’s place with BOBO. CHO has measles. KWONG and MAN send him to hospital. The doctor tells them that the baby suffers from allergy and tells them to find out the allergen as soon as possible.… ...

CHARLES’ mistress comes and causes trouble in MAN’s home. DIANA drives them out. CHARLES and DIANA get back with each other. MAN is late for the court hearing of CHO’s custody because of this. YAN is requesting the judge to continue the hearing with the absence of MAN when MAN arrives. The hearing is finished. AK thinks that it is very unlikely that KWONG will win, unless he can find out the cause of CHO’s allergy. BOBO finds out that CHO is allergic to the pollen of lily. YAN tells her to keep it a secret. The next court is about to open. An idea occurs to YAN when she learns that DIANA has ordered some flowers. Just when the judge is about to announce that MAN will have custody of CHO, the news that CHO has been sent to hospital again for allergy has come. The table has suddenly been turned. Both MAN and YAN are surprised to know VINCI’s fiance is WAN, and that he has got a new image for VINCI. AK requests a reunion.… ...

YAN tells KWONG that her mother is going to sue MAN for injuring her. She says so only to make KWONG go to Malaysia with her and marry her. For the sake of MAN’s future, KWONG promises her. MAN rushes to the airport. She tells KWONG that she would rather face a trial then be separated from CHO. She then turns herself in to the police almost immediately. In the court, MAN confesses that she was influenced by her emotion and has hurt YAN. To help MAN, KWONG, who expresses his love for MAN on the court, admits having given fake evidence in the last hearing. KWONG does not know what to do when he discovers that YAN has made up evidence to frame MAN. YAN honestly admits that she hates MAN and is jealous of MAN. For this reason she has been doing everything she can to take KWONG away from MAN. When she hears KWONG says he only loves MAN, she breaks down.… ...
